Romney to join Kasich in Ohio

By Jamie Dupree

From Dayton, Ohio –

Ten days after speaking out loudly against Donald Trump, the 2012 Republican nominee for President will join John Kasich on the campaign trail here on Monday, as Mitt Romney will step up his efforts to stop Trump from winning the Buckeye State in a primary vote on Tuesday.

“Donald Trump is a phony,” was just part of a litany of jabs that Romney made at Trump earlier this month, all part of a bid by some in the GOP establishment to slow Trump.

“The whole country is watching what’s going on in Ohio,” Kasich told voters at a stop on Saturday in Mansfield, as he vowed in a sense to be the anti-Trump, and run a positive campaign.

“I will never create a toxic atmosphere where people show up at political events and fight with one another,” Kasich said to cheers.

In a town hall event outside of Cincinnati on Sunday, Trump belittled both Kasich and Romney to strong applause.

“I still have to get rid of Kasich,” Trump said. “He would be so bad as President.”

Trump will return to Ohio for a rally in Youngstown on Monday night, at about the same time that Romney will join Kasich in a final event in Kasich’s home town of Westerville, just outside of the state capital of Columbus.
